Main responsibilities of a server

A server is the main point of contact with a restaurant’s customers.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Creating a good relationship with customers

  • Helping customers make an informed meal choice

  • Inform the kitchen and bar of customers’ choices and special requests

  • Bring food to customers' tables and remove dinnerware when they're done

  • Bring the check to customers and collect payments

  • Clean up tables and dining areas, as well as tidy up any spills
