It's the first week of school and you are incorporating several getting-to-know-you activities in your classroom. Try using a quote to break the ice!

A great intro activity is having students construct a journal response explaining what the quote means to them. Then have students discuss their responses in small groups, which could evolve into a whole class discussion.
