DIY All-Purpose Cleaner
All-purpose cleaners are super easy to make at home, cost pennies, and can be made using ingredients you probably already have on hand. Use them to clean glass, mirrors, or your countertop.
Mix these ingredients in a spray bottle:
1 cup of white vinegar
1 tablespoon of baking soda
1 cup of water
Spray on the dirty surface and wipe dry with a rag or cloth.

DIY Laundry Detergent
To make your own powdered laundry detergent, mix together:
1 cup of washing soda
1 cup of Borax
1 five-ounce bar of Castile soap, grated
Store in a lidded, reusable container. Use 1-2 tablespoons depending on the size of your load.
Quiz
Miguel wants to be even more sustainable while doing his laundry. What else could he do? Select all that apply.
Washing in cold water and hanging clothes to dry are ways to be more sustainable because these practices reduce electricity. You might have to use extra electricity rewashing your clothes if you overstuff the washer or don't use enough soap.

2-3 drops of olive oil
Wood Floors*
Mix:
1/2 gallon warm water
1/4 cup white vinegar
*Be sure to test on a small corner to make sure this formula doesn't damage the wood.
Quiz
Gina doesn't need the entire amount of wood cleaner because her place is small. What should she do?
The best thing to do is to cute the recipe in half! The original recipe calls for 4 oz (half-cup) of white vinegar and 32 oz (half-gallon) of water. So half of the recipe would call for 2 Tablespoons white vinegar and 16 oz. of water (2 tablespoons is half of 4 oz and 16 oz is half of 32 oz, or half a gallon). The other options aren't practical.
