Imagine you and your loved ones are taking a road trip to your dream vacation spot, and the driver claims, "I will not follow the map, I will figure it out along the way".
Would you tolerate that? NO!
Then why do so many of us go through life that way?
The good news is, you don't have to! Move towards the direction of your perfect life by:
Building your personal development plan (PDP)
It’s essentially a road map/blueprint of the goals and tasks you plan to achieve, along with listing the skills and habits you’ll need to achieve them.
How Can We Form A Personal Development Plan?
Step 1: Analyze
Self analysis is the starting point.
This is where we honestly and realistically review where we currently stand in our life.
We can use the S.W.O.T analysis to better analyze our current situation.
Step 2: Identify Your Goals
Having understood where we stand we can now proceed towards setting our goals:
While there are multiple ways to form our goals, we can start off by setting:
(a) Primary Goals: require immediate attention
(b) Secondary Goals: can be tackled later
Another fun way to form goals is the S.M.A.R.T way!
Step 3: Plan!
Now is when we get into forming an action plan to reach our goals!
List the steps you need to take and the milestones you need to achieve to reach your goals.
Set deadlines for each task to ensure timely success.
Ask yourself questions like:
(a) What are the steps that need to be taken to succeed?
(b) What skill set must I develop to accomplish the task?
Step 4: Implement!
Ever heard the saying "Actions speak louder than words?"
Well this step highlights the essence of this popular quote.
This is the most important step in your PDP where we actively put our plan into action!
Step 5: Review
Having formed our PDP, it is vital that we keep going back to it to review our progress
This acts as a quick reminder to highlight what we need to work on right now.
We can each personally decide how often we would like to review our plan based on our preferences.

Take Action
Your Personal Development Plan is going to constantly develop and evolve just like you will during this process of achieving your goals.
It is absolutely fine if you encounter a few setbacks initially, what is most important is to continue to strive towards your goal, and in no time you will be turning your goals into reality!
